10 Books You Would Recommend To A Friend

Unfortunately I don't read like I used to. I know I've said that here a couple of times before. I have hope though. Hope that I will return to being a big reader. There's nothing more relaxing than walking around a book store or peering through the stacks at the library. So, in no particular order are some favorites.

1. To Kill A Mockingbird. Yes, Doug you really should read this.

2. The Red Tent. I didn't want this book to end.

3. Lassie Come Home. The story never gets old and makes me cry like a baby each time.

4. The Art of Racing in the Rain. Enzo got a blog post from me I was so touched by this book.

5. The Pillars of the Earth. One of my most favorite. Ever.

6. The Hunger Games. I didn't expect to like it so much. Got to finish book 3 soon!

7. Man Eater. This is a fun, ridiculous story that had me laughing out loud. It's a beach book.

8. East of Eden. Classic.

9. Summer Sisters. I lived it, except for the part where she slept with a girl.

10. The Thornbirds. Yes! Go ahead and re-read it!

Great list! My oldest son is reading To Kill a Mockingbird right now. It was one of my favorite books from high school.

I also loved The Art of Racing in the Rain. As a dog lover. it really touched me and made me think about how perceptive our pets are to what is going on in our family. They are part of it!

To Kill a Mockingbird. Sigh. So love that book. I have not read The Art of Racing in the Rain yet (truth be told, I'm a little afraid that it'll be too sad. . .) -- but I have it on my to-read list for this summer. (I'm such a sap when it comes to dog stories. . .)

2, 4 and 6 are definite winners for me! I've always wanted to read Pillars of the Earth - maybe between this semester & the next?

I was very happy to find a kids adapted version of 4, and brought it home for my two big kids. I hope they love it as much as I do! :)
